We are proud to inform you that members Michelle L. Bunting from Horizon Pediatric Systems, Inc., Eileen Unger from Emergency Preparedness Partners, and Lita Abele, from US Lumber have been named as three of the 2004 Women of Influence by NJBIZ, in the December 13, 2004 issue. NAWBO South Jersey got a plug in Michelle's article! Michelle thanks NAWBO sister Anne Gallagher for the nomination and all of her NAWBO sisters for their fellowship and support.

The 25 winners were selected based on factors like: professional accomplishments as a leader in a particular field, employment growth, challenges overcome, attainment of special goals, innovation and determination.

There will be an Award Reception on February 8, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at the PNC Bank Arts Center and invitations will arrive in early January. If you would like to attend the event, you can register at www.njbiz.com/events.

Board Member Beverlyn Grissom, Esq., was featured today in The Shipping Digest. The article is titled "Women In Transportation" and is on newstands November 1. Below is the link to the article (NAWBO got plug!).  The article is a long one; Bev's portion of the article is near the bottom. Sue Kozel/SK Visions was named a Finalist today in the Community Leader category in The 2004 Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs.

The Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs, www.stevieawards/women, is a new national awards competition recognizing the accomplishments of women small business owners in the United States. The awards are produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards, hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post (September 22, 2002).

Winners will be announced on Friday, October 22 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City’s Times Square. The master of ceremonies will be Bill Rancic, spokesperson for Advanta which is sponsoring the awards and winner of the hit television show “The Apprentice.”

More than 600 nominations from small companies in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in 18 categories, including Best Entrepreneur, Best Young Entrepreneur, Best New Product and Mentor of the Year. Sue Kozel/SK Visions was named as a finalist in the category for Community Leader/Community Involvement Program of the Year.

Sue Kozel operates a full-service public relations firm specializing in services for small businesses and non-profits in the areas of outreach, PowerPoint, bio development, strategic planning and media design. She has been honored with the 2004 Star Award, South Jersey National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO); 2003 Athena Award, Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce (WMCC); 2002 WMCC Circle of Excellence Award; 2001 Woman of Achievement Recognition, and NJ General Assembly, Women’s History Month. Additionally, her led a community environmental project with 2 Allentown High School Students that resulted in the first-ever award from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions to the Upper Freehold Environmental Commission. Finally, SK Visions created the annual Student Advocacy Environment Scholarship, which was first award to two Allentown High School students in 2004. She donates thousands of dollars annually to support local non-profits in direct and in-kind donations of money and equipment, and holiday gifts for children and Moms surviving domestic violence.
