June Member Spotlight : Sharon Dunkel
For the June Member Spotlight, we are featuring Sharon Dunkel of PayDay.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your business.
I have been in the payroll industry running divisions for ADP & Paychex in NY, NJ, Maryland, Delaware and Central PA for over 30 years. I really enjoyed mentoring sales people throughout my career. I got sick while working in Paychex with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer three times. The University of Pennsylvania did the necessary long term treatments with stem cells treatments and gave me a NEW LIFE.
After that time, I decided to retire from my career and open up my own business over 4 years ago called TNRC Associates, which is named after my wonderful grandchildren, Tyler, Nataley, Ryan and Carley. Both my ex-boss and sales manager from Paychex started a payroll service over 8 years ago and they asked me to join them. At that point, I opened TNRC Associates, where I do consulting and selling payroll through my CPAs and bank connections through PayDay Payroll Resources in Bellmawr, NJ.
I joined NAWBO SJ when I opened my business. Through NAWBO SJ and PayDay I went back to my roots of selling and servicing clients and got out of managing people. NAWBO SJ is a wonderful organization that is a great sisterhood of women, as well as smart and always helpful in business. I serve on the Board of Directors for NAWBO SJ as the Co-Director of Corporate Sponsors.
Do you have a tip or tool that has helped you in your business?
Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently! My reality is a reflection of my strong beliefs (think, grow and prosper) for my success in professional and personal life.
Things I do each and every day includes working out to make my body strong, eating healthy, and working with my referral sources – I try, each day, to network and give quality leads back to my referrals.
When I do get a referral and visit them, the most important thing to do is LISTEN TO THE PROSPECT – that is a key for success. Also important, always service your clients.
Do you have a quote to share and inspire other members?
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
