Member Spotlight: Catherine B. Allen-Carlozo
For the July Member Spotlight, we are featuring Catherine B. Allen-Carlozo RICP® Certified Financial Planner™ M Financial Planning Services.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your business.
Catherine earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PlannerTM Practitioner designation over 10 years ago to help ensure she is always prepared to educate and empower clients who are taking on a stronger leadership role in their lives.
That empowerment begins by helping clients understand the overall role finances play in their lives, not just within their investments. Catherine serves clients, many of whom are women growing or reclaiming their independence from a divorce or loss. They may need much more than a snapshot view of their financial picture. These clients realize their financial health is an evolving process, one that needs continuing review and refinement. It is Catherine’s passion and goal to change the conversation about personal finance for women and help them experience lasting financial freedom.
For more than 30 years Catherine has worked in the financial profession, developing and implementing comprehensive financial plans for individuals, many of whom also own small businesses.
Catherine is the president of South Jersey Women in Business and a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey, the National Association of Professional Women and the Financial Planning Association, local and national chapters.
Do you have a business tip or tool that has helped you in your business to share?
“A goal without a plan is only a dream.” Setting SMART goals and have a written business plan that you review regularly is invaluable.
Do you have a quote to share and inspire other members?
No one cares more about your financial future than yourself. Be selfish about it and make focusing on your financial success a priority. (Catherine Allen-Corlozo)
What is your go to business, mindset or productivity book that has helped you in your life and business that you’d like to share?
The Go-Giver by Bob Burg. I recommend it for anyone who networks and wants to connect with people. Networking is about learning about other people, their businesses, and what you can do to help them. It’s the opposite of a “Go-Taker”, which would be someone only interested in themselves.
Please tell us about your next upcoming business event so that we can share it with our members and followers.
Does your group need a guest speaker? I am available to speak to your professional, civic, religious or special interest group on various topics: The Unique Financial Challenges Facing Women, Retirement Planning, Social Security & Medicare, or Estate Planning, for example. Give me a call to arrange a date. I look forward to speaking with you!
